Local Treasure Maps

Relief International - Schools Online's June project was dedicated to virtual tourism and global citizenship. Students from different countries created maps to guide visitors to unique places in their communities. In the Palestinian territories, over 12 student groups from six districts participated. Using ICT training delivered as part of previous GCEP projects, students created 'e-maps' that can be sent to visitors. The final products were creative and innovative and the first place in the competition was awarded to the student group from the Arab American School in Jenin.

This group is the newest student group in the RI-SOL Jenin Community Action and Learning Center and will also be participating in the Peace Process Project with Mason West. The group used different IT programs such as PowerPoint and Photoshop to create a really strong presentation. "It was a really good opportunity for us to learn about our country and other countries, and to send our friends abroad information about Palestine," said Zaina, one of the participants.
